Ex-President Igor Dodon said the authorities’ decision to purchase electricity from the Kuchurgan power plant is correct. However, even if the purchase price is lower, the consumers pay a price that is four times higher. The official Chisinau’s decision to offer the gas supplied by Gazprom to the Transnistrian region and to buy gas from the market represents waste of money, IPN reports.
According to the National Agency for Energy Regulation (NAER), the diminution of the purchase price of electricity to US$73 per MW following the signing of a contract between Energocom and MGRES is the main reason for reducing the electricity charges. Igor Dodon said that as the purchase price is lower, the high charge of 4.62 lei per kW hour that the citizens must pay is inexplicable.
“It’s good that we buy electrical energy from the Kuchurgan power plant as the purchase price is lower. In November, when we purchased electricity from our Romanian brothers, whom we thank for support, the consumers spent half a billion lei more. 500 million lei went away from our pockets. Who should answer for this? Two years ago, we purchased power from Kuchurgan at the price of 5.2 cents per kW, which is 0.98 lei, and the charge for the consumers with all the related costs was 1.89 lei. Now we purchase electricity for 7.3 cents kW, which is 1.40 lei, while the consumers pay a charge of 4.60 lei, which is four times higher. Where is the difference?,” Igor Dodon asked in the program “The theme” on Primul in Moldova channel.
On Thursday, the NAER approved new regulated electricity prices. This way, the households powered by Premier Energy will pay a charge of 4.62 lei/kWh, down from 5.91 lei/kWh at present, while those powered by FEE Nord – 4.65 lei/kWh, down from 5.60 lei/kWh.
