“The Eastern Partnership Summit confirmed that the case of the Republic of Moldova is in the lowest drawer of Europe’s preoccupations,” stated President Igor Dodon. In a statement, he noted that the EaP also confirmed the illusory character of the European integration, IPN reports.
According to President Dodon, the Europeans’ disappointment in Chisinau is constant and Moldova’s chances to integrate into the EU are almost equal to zero for the next decades. It is confirmed that the pro-European governments until now pursued illusion-based geopolitics.
“If the prospects of integration into the EU are absent, it means that the Government of Moldova used its anti-Russia geopolitical rhetoric not to become attractive to the West, because it is not, but rather to create a favorable internal ideological background, for political and electoral reasons. Thus, the anti-Russia rhetoric and geopolitics are not only unjustified, but also completely useless in the relations with the West. And they are also very noxious for the social and economic development of the Republic of Moldova because they generated ethnical and social division inside the country and damaged the good relations with the partners from the East, especially the Russian Federation,” stated Igor Dodon.
He also said that the citizens of the Republic of Moldova during the last few years have been subject to a massive manipulation campaign whose goal has been to show that the entry into the European Union is not only an achievable objective, but also that this will be attained in the immediate future.
Moreover, by the false pro-European rhetoric, those who have ruled in the Republic of Moldova tried to hide a sad reality – that things have worsened continuously and every day Moldova distances itself more from standards towards which it officially moves - while the decision makers in Brussels have constantly warned about such a deplorable situation, stated Igor Dodon.
He thanked the European partners for the support provided to the Republic of Moldova and voiced hope that this will have an impact on the quality of people’s lives.
