Igor Dodon could dispute some of laws readopted by Parliament in CC

Igor Dodon does not rule out the possibility that he will challenge some of the laws that were readopted by Parliament after he refused to promulgate them in the Constitutional Court (CC). The President said this is one of the possibilities enjoyed by the Head of State if this does not agree with some of the legislative provisions. Such statements were made by Igor Dodon in the program “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1, IPN reports.

Speaking about the eight laws that he refused to promulgate and returned to Parliament for reexamination, President Dodon said that in accordance with the Constitution, the Head of State is obliged to promulgate these now. “There are two solutions: the President assumes the risk of non-promulgation with the consequent effects or the President promulgates them and disputes the legislative provisions with which he disagrees in the Constitutional Court as unconstitutional,” he stated.

Igor Dodon noted that he has 14 days to take a decision as to the laws that were readopted by the legislature. ”We will consult experts and academicians and will convene the Civil Society Council working under the President to discuss all the possible forms and will reach a decision,” he said.
