Igor Dodon calls on politicians to make common cause with whole health system

President Igor Dodon calls upon the politicians to give up the lawsuits filed after the Commission for Exceptional Situations obliged the Moldovans who return home to pay medical insurance contributions. The call was made after presenting the costs incurred by the state for treating patients with COVID-19, IPN reports.

According to President Dodon, as the treatment period at the hospital is of 14 days, the treatment of a patient with COVID-19 costs 32,000 lei or 78,000 lei in case of patients in critical condition.  He noted everyone should know about these costs, including those who criticize the decision that imposes the obligation to purchase a health insurance policy.

The official said the politicians should make common cause with all the citizens of Moldova and also with the whole healthcare system.

During the state of emergency, as of April 1, the citizens of the Republic of Moldova and foreigners with permits of stay who intend to enter the country and do not have the status of medically insured person included in the mandatory health insurance system will be obliged to pay the mandatory health insurance premium in fixed amount, as it was decided by the Commission for Exceptional Situations.

Ex-Premier Maia Sandu in a TV program said the Action and Solidarity Party challenged in court the Commission’s decision
