President Igor Dodon, who runs for a new term in office, does not believe in Maidans that can be staged without the geopolitical support of the big players. As regards the assertion of the chief of Russian’s Foreign Intelligence Service Sergey Naryshkin, who said that the U.S. is preparing a ‘colored’ revolution in Moldova in the eventuality of the victory of the pro-Russian President Igor Dodon in the presidential elections of November 1, Igor Dodon said he does not think that the United States at this stage is interested in the destabilization of the situation.
“I consider Russia, the European Union, the United States are big players. I don’t think Russia is interested in destabilizing the situation in the Republic of Moldova. I’m firmly convinced that Brussels, the European Union do not want the situation in the Republic of Moldova to be destabilized and a situation of chaos to be created here at the border with the EU because destabilization is a problem for the EU too. As to the United States of America, I have a very good and often dialogue with Mister Hogan (U.S. Ambassador in Chisinau, Dereck J. Hogan, e.n.). I don’t think the U.S. is interested in the destabilization of the situation at this stage,” stated Igor Dodon, answering a question in the program “Igor Dodon responds”.
According to Igor Dodon, the Americans say that Russian experts work here, while the Russians say the Americans want to cause destabilization. “I think such messages are disseminated by geopolitical forces in order to prevent particular activities,” he stated, calling on the foreign partners, if they have disputes between them, not to become involved in Moldova’s internal affairs and to find another “playground”.
Igor Dodon also said there are sufficient instruments and the security bodies are ready to ensure public order, peace and safety. He called upon the political opponents not to resort to destabilization. He noted he is ready to recognize any outcome of the elections and does not intend to persuade the people to take to the streets.
