Igor Dodon asks for information from SIS about expulsion of Turkish citizens

Presidential adviser Maxim Lebedinschi said President Igor Dodon requested that the Security and Intelligence Service of the Republic of Moldovan should immediately furnish him with information about the expulsion of the Turkish citizens who work at “Orizont” Lyceum in Moldova, IPN reports.

“To avoid any speculation in the press about the fact that these citizens sought political asylum in the Republic of Moldova, we inform that the Presidential Office received no application of the kind so far,” says the presidential adviser’s message.

At the same time, the adviser reminds that in December 2016, by a decision made by Moldova’s Parliament, the Security and Intelligence Service was transferred from the Presidential Office under the management of the legislative body.

On September 6, seven foreign citizens, among who principals and teachers of “Orizont” Lyceum, were declared undesirable over alleged links to an Islamic group and expelled from Moldova. The Security and Intelligence Service said the decisions were taken in a move to ensure national security.
