Igor Dodon and Vadim Krasnoselski didn’t raise subjects from political “basket”

In the first meeting of President of Moldova Igor Dodon and Transnistrian leader Vadim Krasnoselski in Bender town on January 4, the interlocutors didn’t discuss subjects from the political “basket”. They gave priority to the identification of joint solutions to daily problems faced by the people living on both sides of the Nistru River, IPN reports.

In the discussion that lasted for over one hour and a half, the officials raised, according to official press releases, key subjects related to the Transnistrian conflict settlement, such as the free movement of people, telephone network, complete restoration of railroad freight transportation through the Transnistrian region, recognition of Transnistrian university diplomas and registration numbers of motor vehicles.

“Surely, there are sensitive issues and different viewpoints, but this does not mean that we should not sit at the negotiating table to solve the problems of our citizens,” said Igor Dodon.

“We must create conditions for the people not to be political prisoners and the decisions taken by the politicians should be in the interests of the people. We must respect the Transnistrian and Moldovan people and reach comprises in any situation,” stated Vadim Krasnoselski, quoted by the local press.

Transnistrian journalists also reported that after the meeting, the two officials visited the cultural attractions of the town, including the memorial complex “Bender Fortress”, which was reconstructed under the direction of Vadim Krasnoselski in 2008, and the Church “Alexandr Nevski”.
