An agreement concerning the “package approach” to problems faced by the people from both sides of the Nistru River could be signed this year, President Igor Dodon reiterated in a meeting with journalist, IPN reports.
Igor Dodon said it would be ideal to find a formula to ensure cooperation between different institutions on both sides of the Nistru. “I proposed holding an international conference centering on the situation in Moldova, at high level, with OSCE ministers or in a broader format,” he stated.
The President noted that he raised the issue of “package approach” during his visit to Moscow. The package includes such sensitive issues as the activity of the Latin-script schools, cultivation of farmland and access to Transnistria for particular categories of people. The registration of motor vehicles was one of the problems proposed by the Transnistrian side for discussion.
According to Igor Dodon, for the social problems to be solved, a political solution to the Transnistrian conflict should be first identified. When a political solution is found, the people will be asked to state their opinion on it in a referendum.
