A sum of 2.5 billion of the stolen bank funds lei has been recovered so far. This amount was already transferred to the state budget. Assets totaling 3.8 billion lei have been sequestrated. These figures refer only to internal assets. The activities to recover the stolen funds at internal level have been stepped up and the seizure of assets outside the country will start soon, said President Igor Dodon.

“As you know, the damage caused directly to the state is of 13.3 billion lei without the interest we pay to the National Bank. The recovered money and the sequestrated assets at this stage come to 6.3 billion lei. This is almost twice more than the situation at the start of the year. I refer to internal sources only,” President Dodon said after the meeting of the Supreme Security Council, being quoted by IPN.

According to Igor Dodon, no one did something to recover the money transferred abroad, but this money represents the largest part of the stolen amount. There were sent 51 applications for international legal assistance and letters rogatory to 19 states. The confiscation of assets outside Moldova is to start soon. The location of the money is known.
