Igor Corman suggests constituting Parliamentary Assembly Moldova-Ukraine-Poland

Head of Parliament Igor Corman proposed setting up a parliamentary dialogue platform in trilateral format Moldova – Ukraine –Poland. The proposal was made in a meeting with the Presidents of the two states Petro Poroshnko and Bronisław Komorowski, IPN reports.

Igor Corman underlined that the European integration project of Moldova must become a national one and must be accepted by all the citizens because it represents a guarantee of stability and development.

Bronisław Komorowski said that Moldova can learn from Poland’s experience in the European integration process, noting that his country’s association with the EU was a difficult process that necessitated the change of mentality and concerted efforts, but generated better living standards.

For his part, Petro Poroshenko said that Ukraine supports Moldova’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. “When Moldova and Ukraine have a clear European perspective, real conditions will appear for resolving the Transnistrian dispute,” he stated.

Prime Minister Iurie Leanca also discussed with the two heads of state. “I consider this visit is a sign of support for Moldova’s efforts to build a democratic, European country, which contributes to building the security we all want in the region,” he stated. He welcomed Ukraine’s effort to continue its European course, it is said in a communiqué of the Government’s press service.

The discussions of the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party Vlad Filat with the two heads of state focused on the internal and regional political situation before the parliamentary elections, security-related problems, the importance of the countries from the region making common cause for ensuring security, sovereignty, territorial integrity, democratic development and progress on the path to European integration.

According to a communiqué of the party, the two Presidents expressed their concern about the pressure, including economic one, to which Moldova is subjected on its path to European integration. Bronislaw Komorowski and Petro Poroshenko expressed their solidarity with the country and their conviction that in the November 30 elections the Moldovan people will vote for continuing the European course.
