The new political configuration in the administration, in the form of the Pro-European Coalition, will find reflection in a future law that will regulate coalition governance. The mechanisms worked out and used earlier in governance in this format didn’t ensure efficient cooperation between Parliament and the Government. Such an opinion was stated by invitees to the program “Fabrika” on PublikaTV channel, IPN reports.
Speaker Igor Corman said the bill on coalitions should be presented in Parliament so that there is a solid legal argument for governing the country in coalition. There was created the coalition’s secretariat that will clearly formulate the agenda. A right-wing opposition is emerging, alongside the left-wing one. This means that there won’t be quietness in Parliament. Any opposition criticizes the government and creates problems.
According to the Speaker, Moldova lost a large part of the time allotted for the European integration process, while the agenda of the new coalition is very clear. “Even the signals that come from abroad are very good. I have the impression that the Europeans are even gladder about what we managed to achieve. We must continue the process of initialing the Association Agreement so as to sign it next year. Until the elections, the EU should decide about the visa regime,” he stated.
Journalist Ion Terguta said the debates within the coalition should be different, but also more efficient. “This crisis, even if it was a devastating one, was positive because it enabled us to see how things stand. It revealed all the week points of society,” he stressed.
According to Sergiu Ostaf, director of the Resource Center for Human Rights, the legislative body plays an important role in promoting and finalizing reforms at the subordinate institutions and is expected to provide greater support to the Cabinet and in the relations with society. “The financial resources allocated to Parliament are larger and society wants higher quality at legislative level,” he stated.
