Igor Corman: Moldova counts on support of Visegrad Group countries

Moldova relies on the support of the European partners, including of the countries of the Visegrad Group, in the liberalization of the visa regime for Moldovans. Head of Parliament Igor Corman discussed the issue with policy directors of the foreign ministries of the four Visegrad Group countries (Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, and Hungary), who visited Moldova, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué from Parliament, Igor Corman appreciated the increased interest expressed by the V4 countries in strengthening the institutional capacities in different sectors and the support offered to civil society in becoming involved in decision making. The officials agreed to intensify the informing and communication on European integration with the people, including by using the regional cooperation instruments, such as the International Visegrad Fund.

The policy directors underlined that the EU fully supports authorities’ actions aimed at modernizing the country according to the democratic European model, respecting the sovereignty, independence and integrity of Moldova. They said that Moldova must have cooperation relations both with the partners from the West and those from the East, regional cooperation being also important.
