Democratic MP Igor Corman said that all the democratic parties will be affected if the new Government is not invested. On the other hand, Liberal-Democratic lawmaker Valeriu Strelet considers that in order to ensure a balance, they should first install the Government and then fill the post of Head of Parliament, which was earlier held by the Democratic leader Marian Lupu. The politicians developed the theme in a program on the public TV channel Moldova 1, IPN reports.
“Everyone will be affected and new people will come to power, who will lead the country in another direction. The candidate for premiership Iurie Leanca came to the talks and was honest. I hope he convinced everyone of his sincerity. We must realize that we are on the verge of a precipice. Our biggest problem is that we cannot leave the vainglory aside,” said Igor Corman, adding that it does not matter who is elected first – the Premier or the Speaker – if an agreement is reached and confidence is restored between the Democrats and the Liberal-Democrats.
Valeriu Strelet spoke about the draft agreement on the formation of the government coalition, saying the provisions that were accepted when agreements were reached at any cost were removed from the negotiated document. “Civil society pressurized us then with such messages as “Do everything in order to create a Government”. Similar messages came from outside. We answered that we will be obliged to pass certain laws at the speed of light. We accepted then those compromises,” he said.
Valeriu Strelet also said that the Lib-Dems opened the negotiations with a view to investing a new Government. They have a sincere offer and the voting in of the new Cabinet depends on the political will of the Democrats as the Liberals led by Ion Hadarca and the unaffiliated MPs of the group of Vadim Misin said they will vote in favor. Igor Corman replied that the Democrats do not yet know the PLDM’s offer.
The negotiations on the creation of a parliamentary majority that would give a vote of confidence to the Government formed by Iurie Leanca started on May 21. The participants in the talks said the beginning was promising. A new round of talks will take place today.
