Igor Corman:‎ European project belongs to Moldova, not parties

Head of Parliament Igor Corman called on the political parties to make common cause for achieving the European integration objective. “We are coming closer to a crucial moment for our country – the ratification of the Association Agreement with the EU. I wish we, the politicians, show today that we can be united, as in 2005, when Parliament, in this hall, unanimously voted for the Declaration for European Integration,” the Speaker said in his speech in Parliament before the voting procedure, IPN reports.

According to Igor Corman, the European integration objective should not be politicized and used for electoral purposes by parties. “The people voted for a number of parties to achieve this national goal and this is not accidental. The European project does not belong to a particular party or politician. It belongs to the Moldovans, including those who vote for the opposition parties, but who are happy together with us with the benefits that the partnership with the EU provides,” he stated.

At the end of his speech, Igor Corman called on every MP to be responsible and to vote with confidence for the continuation of the European course. “I invite you to responsibly finish this important step that Moldova is taking and to ratify the Association Agreement with the EU so as to show the people that we are determined to build together a modern and prosperous state,” he said, being applauded by the MPs of the parliamentary majority.
