Igor Corman considers Russia does not want to annex Transnistria

Parliamentary Speaker Igor Corman believes it is not in the interest of Russia to act towards the Transnistrian region in the same way as towards Crimea. He made related statements in the program “Fourth Power” on N4 channel, IPN reports.

“If such ideas appear in Moscow - in favor of such a scenario - it will be hard for them to present arguments. Until now, Russia was for resolving the dispute. I do not understand the motives for the position to be changed. It would be very risky,” stated the Head of Parliament.

However, Igor Corman considers that particular countries will not start a war against Russia. All the sides understand that solutions are being looked for to ensure peace and stability. “I don’t think somebody will accept Crimea not to form part of Ukraine. But I don’t think they will intervene militarily,” he added.

Answering the question about Moldova’s accession to NATO, Igor Corman said there are no votes and possibilities for amending the Constitution and the issue wasn’t yet included in the government’s agenda.
