The European integration of Moldova and the development of the cooperation relations with the traditional partners from the East must represent two complementary processes, Speaker Igor Corman said in a meeting with the Chairman of the Russian State Duma Sergey Naryshkin.

The meeting of the two officials took place on the sidelines of the meeting of the Council of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly in Sankt-Petersburg in the evening of November 28, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué from the Parliament’s press service, Igor Corman pleaded for strengthening the cooperation relations between the two countries and reiterated Moldovan legislative body’s readiness to step up the dialogue at the level of the competent parliamentary commissions, the friendship groups and the commission for interparliamentary cooperation between the Parliament of Moldova and the Federal Assembly of Russia, including by organizing official bilateral visits of the Speakers of the two states.

Today, November 29, there will be held the 39th plenary meeting of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
