Ex-director of the National Standardization and Metrology Institute Igor Caldare told a news conference on Tuesday that he will sue the head of the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime (CCCEC) Viorel Chetrari for slander and will demand apologies from him for naming him 'stupid', Info-Prim Neo reports. Igor Caldare cited a passage from press reports according to which Viorel Chetrari said that he talks nonsense, needs psychiatric counseling and is able to do nothing because he was unable to manage an institution. The former director said he will seek damages of 169,300 lei from Viorel Chetrari. This is the sum asked from Igor Caldare as damages in four legal cases in which he is accused of slander. Caldare denies the accusations, saying the legal cases were fabricated by order as he decided to reveal fraudulent schemes involving persons from the administration of the National Standardization and Metrology Institute and other state institutions. Igor Caldare also said that the CCCEC intentionally does not send the evidence against persons involved in swindles to the Prosecutor's Office. “If the proofs are not presented in the near future, I will start to make these documents public and those persons will have to be prosecuted,” he stated. Through the agency of the press, the former director of the National Standardization and Metrology Institute asked Viorel Chetrari to send him an SMS with his home address as he needs to know what court to go to. Igor Caldare said that if Viorel Chetrari refuses to provide the address, he will find another solution.
