The decision of the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” to form a political party was taken under the pressure exerted by the people, Platform member Igor Botan said in the talk show “European horizon” on TVR Moldova channel, IPN reports.
“Both in Chisinau and in other parts of the country, the people say that they do not have who to vote for. We were told that if we seek the dismissal of the current government formed by the declared pro-European parties, pro-Russian forces of the left will come to power. We do not want this to happen. We consulted sociologists and these said that those who initiated the protests must ensure a political alternative. This was the big trap about which we didn’t think initially,” stated Botan.
He noted that even if the Platform “Dignity and Truth” supports the creation of a political party, it will remain a civic one. “We will cut the umbilical cord and will detach ourselves completely from this party. The Platform “Dignity and Truth” will further maintain the flame of protests. We also aim to transform the Platform into a center of expertise for examining the quality of governance, no matter what parties are in power,” said Botan.
