Vlad Filat reaps the harvest of the excessive politicization of the law enforcement bodies, which he promoted alongside Mihai Ghimpu and Vlad Plahotniuc, political analyst Igor Botan, who is the executive director of the Association for Participatory Democracy (ADEPT), said in the talk show “Interpol” on TV 7 channel, commenting on the arrest of the Liberal-Democratic leader’s relatives on suspicion of involvement in the banking fraud, IPN reports.
“It is not the tragedy of Filat only. The stealing in the banking system was committed also as a result of the politicization of the law enforcement bodies. I would apologize to my relatives in his place, if I considered that they are innocent. But he said that he will not shift his position. It is a statement of a politician and nothing more. It’s clear that he makes particular concessions in the negotiation process. During the last several years, the developments referring to corruption at the upper level involved only the PLDM. This is a consequence of the politicization of law enforcement bodies,” he stated.
Igor Botan accused Filat of not changing things even if he was able to. “Filat could have done something good for Moldova in October 2011, when he said that he intends to launch a fight against the ‘puppeteer’. Then Filat enjoyed a lot of support from society and the West. Society would have supported him. But these statements remained only statements and Filat has now to suffer the consequences,” stated the analyst.
Referring to Vlad Plahotniuc and Mihai Ghimpu, the director of ADEPT said the two lied to society. “In September 2010, Plahotniuc said he will solve the problems in an outlaw-like way and he does not intend to enter politics. He kept only half of his world as he entered politics. Mihai Ghimpu often stated he will not form an alliance with the mafia that robs banks and airports, but he did it. Now they, including Filat, tell us that they discuss the government program at the talks. They actually discuss how to transform the money stolen from the National Bank’s reserves into a state debt,” stated Igor Botan.
The analyst assured he will never enter politics. “Politics is not for me, while the Platform “Dignity and Truth” must remain a civic platform by which society will protest against the wrongdoings committed by the government,” he said.
