If we want to be really free, we must work every day, Poland’s Ambassador

To make progress, we should realize that we are a nation and want to be a nation and to have an independent country. If such a wish exists, it is easier to find a response to the question what reforms and changes are needed, which are definitely tough and not easy, Poland’s Ambassador to Moldova Bartłomiej Zdaniuk stated in BDR Associates’ first interview of a series of thematic interviews with EU ambassadors conducted as part of Europe Days. According to the diplomat, it is important to place the country’s wellbeing at the forefront and, if we want to be really free, we must work every day, IPN reports.

“I think what helped a lot in our case was the awareness of the shed blood. The most difficult or harshest thing is when one can say that a person was killed twice: the first time when losing one’s life while defending the homeland and the second time when being forgotten. That’s why, to make progress, we should realize that we are a nation and want to be a nation and to have an independent country,” said Bartłomiej Zdaniuk.

The diplomat noted that Poland’s success was based on two elements with which the county set off and went further – the small and medium-sized enterprises, on the one hand, and the local power, on the other hand. The Poles focused on these two spheres after the Communist model failed. They contributed to improving their own life by founding enterprises and also the state, by contributing to the public budget. An important role was also played by the local communities, where the people know each other and know the needs of the place better than the local power, no matter how hardworking this is.

As regards the progress in developing the business climate, Bartłomiej Zdaniuk said attractive and favorable conditions were first of all created for small business in Poland. The conditions should be predictable as the business community should know what to expect at least in the long term, if not in the short term. The rigors should be equal for everyone – loyal competition as it is in a market economy. Everyone has a different situation, a larger or smaller potential.

“If you work and see that you manage to do something, you are stimulated to make more effort. If you see that your effort does not produce the expected result immediately or in the medium term, you are discouraged. The most important thing is for the people not to be discouraged and to maintain their wish to go on, first of all for the own wellbeing, for the wellbeing of the family as everyone’s wellbeing contributes to the wellbeing of society. The more you gain, the more you contribute to the state budget or the locality,” stated the ambassador.

Poland is a market for the Moldovan wines, with exports reaching the whole European market. According to the diplomat, these are serious markets where one should work, but when you conquer a part of the market, you can be sure that this position will remain and it will be a new stage towards greater presence. The importance of the Polish market derives from its seriousness. The Polish market will not change the rules overnight or will not close in a second.

As to the Moldovan products’ advantage and potential, Bartłomiej Zdaniuk said he can speak primarily about the agrifood products here and what matters is that the Moldovan products kept that natural dimension. The Moldovan products are natural, healthy, tasty and it is very important to keep these qualities.
