IF Supreme Council of Magistrates demands, Parliament will examine again Muruianu’s dismissal
The legislative body may consider again the issue of Ion Muruianu’s dismissal from the post of Supreme Court of Justice president if the Supreme Council of Magistrates asks this, Head of Parliament Marian Lupu said after the meeting of the Standing Bureau, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“The Parliament does not act as it wants. It is an institution that must act in accordance with the law. Reference was made to the procedural norms during examinations at the Supreme Council of Magistrates. If the Council makes such a request in the future, the Parliament will examine it,” said Marian Lupu.
Ion Muruianu was reinstated on September 28 by a decision of the Supreme Court of Justice, but he holds the post on an interim basis as his tenure expired and a contest was announced to fill the vacancy. On October 4, the Constitutional Court ruled that the Parliament’s July 5 decision to discharge Ion Muruianu from the post of Supreme Court of Justice president is unconstitutional. The same day, Ion Muruianu sent a letter to the Supreme Council of Magistrates, informing he resumes work as Court president.
