If the Party of Socialists (PSRM) forms any kind of coalition with the Democratic Party (PDM), this will be a serious blow and loss for the Socialists. This could lead to the destruction of the PSRM and the minimization of the social support for this party, ex-MP Stella Jantuan was quoted by IPN as saying in the talk show “Politics of Natalia Morari” on TV8 channel.

“The people will start to incline to other projects of the left that will definitely appear in the Republic of Moldova. The voters of the left are much more ideologized,” stated Stella Jantuan, noting the PSRM will be unable to gain control over the power and the current monopoly will not be changed.

Political commentator Corneliu Ciurea said the Democratic Party will no longer hold the monopoly it had over the past three years and will have to divide the power with other parties. “Surely, the PDM still hopes that it will keep control, but the power will gradually diminish as an alliance implies serious concessions and I don’t think that the power of Plahotniuc will go so far so as to be able to control everything. This is impossible, especially with the current foreign partners that prevent it from doing so,” stated the commentator. According to him, the PDM’s control over the power will decrease.

Our Party vice president Dumitru Chubashenko noted the leader of the PDM Vladimir Plahotniuc does not intend to concede the power and any form of government that will enable him to keep the power will suit him. The PSRM is now in a favorable situation and it wants to keep this situation.
