If the Democratic Party (PDM) continues its populist policies, the Republic of Moldova next spring will experience an economic collapse, stated the deputy chairman of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” Mihai Popșoi.
“We saw how they took away 300 million lei from the already tight budget of Chișinău by this recent reform (fiscal reform, e.n.). The other public authorities, which are dependent on the center, had the budget cut by this reduction in taxes. So, they became even more dependent on the center. The development capacity at the local level is equal to zero. This electoral populism of the PDM risks dynamiting the whole sector of public finances,” Mihai Popșoi was quoted by IPN as saying in the talk show “People’s Council” on 10TV channel.
According to him, another four years of PDM government would be catastrophic for the Republic of Moldova. ”If we have a PDM-PSRM government, we expect the employed people of an average age with studies, on whom the economy is based, will leave the country in a large number. This will further dynamite the development capacity of the Republic of Moldova from economic viewpoint,” stated Mihai Popșoi.
Deputy chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party Ion Terguță said that if the Democrats continue to hold power, the European Union will provide no assistance and the development discrepancy between the Republic of Moldova and the EU member states will widen. “We do not speak about years, but about decades of development as we will lag behind at civilizational level. We have no factor that could advantage us,” stated Ion Terguță.
