If parliamentary elections were held next Sunday, four parties would enter legislature, iData

If parliamentary elections were held next Sunday, four political parties would enter the legislative body. The iData Barometer shows that 27.2% of the respondents would vote for the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS), 13.3% – for the Party of Socialists (PSRM), 11.8% – for the “Victory” Bloc, 5.1% – for the Political Party “Our Party” (PPPN). Slightly over 18% of the respondents do not know who they will vote for, 5.7% – will not vote, and 2.6% did not answer. If the undecided voters are excluded, the Party of Communists (PCRM) would also enter Parliament.

In a news conference hosted by IPN, the director of the sociological company Date Inteligente (iData) Mihai Bologan said that 37.3% of those surveyed would vote for the PAS, 18.2% - for the PSRM, 16.2% - for the “Victory” Bloc, 7% - for the PPPN and 5.9% - for the PCRM. Other parties would not pass the electoral threshold of 5%.

The authors of the research analyzed how the Parliament would look like if voting were held only in the country, without the regions situated on the left bank of the Nistru and without the diaspora. Thus, the PAS would get 45 seats, the PSRM – 22 seats, the “Victory” Bloc – 19 seats, the PPPN – 8 seats and the PCRM – 7 seats.

"I would like to note that the Alternative Bloc, although in our poll it would obtain over 5% of the voting intentions among those who are decided, would not be able to enter the legislature as a bloc (the threshold for a bloc is 7%). If it were to compete alone as a party, the current configuration would change," sayid the director of iData.

Among the politicians who enjoy the most trust is President Maia Sandu, who was mentioned by 30.9% of the respondents. The head of state is followed by the leader of the PSRM Igor Dodon with 11.3%, fugitive oligarch Ilan Shor with 10.2%, the leader of Our Party Renato Usatyi with 4.5%, former prosecutor general Alexandr Stoianoglo with 4.4%, mayor general of Chisinau Ion Ceban, leader of the MAN – 3.8%, etc. For this question, the respondents were given a list of politicians from which they chose.

The survey was conducted during February 13-24 and covered a sample of 1,005 people from 315 localities. The maximum sampling error is ±3%.
