If censure motion is not passed, PCRM will be unable to propose another one this session

If the censure motion against the Government is not voted by at least 51 lawmakers, the Communist Party (PCRM) will not be able to put forward another similar motion within this legislature. Constitutional expert Corneliu Gurin has told Info-Prim Neo that a new motion can be proposed by other MPs. Under the procedure for examining the censure motion, Prime Minister Vlad Filat must present a report on the Government’s work in Parliament. The MPs state their opinions on the report and put questions. Afterward, the censure motion is put to the vote. If it gains enough votes, the Premier must offer the Cabinet’s resignation to the head of state within three days. After that, the President holds consultations with the parliamentary groups to identify a new candidate for the post of Prime Minister. “The candidate works out a new government program and forms a new Cabinet. He then asks for the Parliament’s vote of confidence for the Cabinet and the new government program. At most two attempts can be made, with the same candidate or two different candidates. If the designated Premier does not obtain the vote of confidence by two attempts, the head of state can dissolve Parliament,” said Corneliu Gurin According to the legislation, the Premier is dismissed and invested by the votes of minimum 51 MPs. The discharged Premier can be proposed again for the post.
