First and second-level administrations in the districts of Vulcanesti and Anenii Noi will be assisted by the experts of the Development and Social Initiative Institute IDIS Viitorul with planning their local development strategies and in providing quality public services to people. This UNDP-funded initiative will span 10 months from June 2009 to April 2010 and will involve local authorities as well as representatives of the business community and civil society, Info-Prim Neo reports. The district-level strategies will comprise action plans for each community, with focus on attracting foreign investment and creating new jobs, it was said in a press release from IDIS. Economic development offices will be set up with the help of the project to assist the authorities with implementing the adopted strategies. The community actors involved will be offered training in areas like financial management, strategy planning, quality public service provision, combating of domestic violence and trafficking in persons. Previously IDIS Viitorul provided assistance to the authorities of Gagauzia in setting up an Economic Local Development Office for the autonomy. A strategy for the socioeconomic development of the autonomy was also drafted with the help of the IDIS experts.
