The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology said no new license plates according to the European standard SM 122:2014 will be introduced on January 1, 2017, as a media outlet erroneously reported, IPN reports.
The Ministry noted that license plates made according to the European standard SM 122:2014 have been used in Moldova since 2015. The license plates of a new model that are now issued in Moldova envision a special place for the vehicle inspection decal so as to no longer attach the decal to the vehicle’s windshield.
For the purpose, the Ministry suggested introducing a new type of inspection decal on January 1, 2017. The model is to be approved by the Government. The introduction of the new decal will not lead to a rise in the price of license plates or additional costs for vehicle owners.
The Ministry said that is no intention or bill to introduce a new type of license plates exists and the distribution of such information represents regrettable misinformation.
