Weather forecasters issued a warning about falling icicles. The head of the State Hydrometeorology Service Ilie Boian has told Info-Prim Neo that the length of icicles in parts may reach two meters. Ilie Boian said in Chisinau there are many old buildings that do not have a system for draining the melting snow, but the layer of snow on the roofs is rather great. “This layer is not cleaned and it can melt during three weeks. The temperatures are now below zero, but it will grow warmer next week and the danger posed by falling icicles will increase,” he stated. According to the Service’s head, in the large towns the buildings where icicles are formed are fenced and there are placed warning signs for the people to avoid those places. Ilie Boian informed that the weather will grow gradually warmer the next days and there will be snow. Severe frost is not forecast. Thermometers will show zero degrees Celsius during the day and down to minus 15 degrees Celsius at night, mainly in northern Moldova.
