Icicles in Chisinau reach half a tonne in weight, according to head of the housing and planning division Petru Gontea. He says that such icicles can be found on the roofs on the streets Banulescu Bodoni and Bucuresti, right in the heart of the city, Info-Prim Neo reports. Pentru Gontea said during the City Hall meeting that the division workers can only block the access ways around these buildings. The duty to break the icicles belongs to the building administrators. Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca noted that this was a dangerous situation, especially considering that there were deaths caused by falling icicles. “As I see it, there isn’t enough control. It’s also true that there is little awareness in this regard, which is most annoying. Some seem to think that only a few services must take part in snow removal, while they can laze near the stove”. The Mayor demanded harsher fines for building administrators who don’t participate in snow removal and don’t take care properly of their buildings.
