Iasi Bessarabian Youth Association invites to Bessarabian Film Festival

Short and full-length films made by Moldovan directors will be shown during the Bessarabian Film Festival organized by the Bessarabian Youth Association in Iasi. After a two-year pause, the Association decided to continue the tradition of the Bessarabian film with five valuable films, the Association‘s secretary general Olga Bondari has told Info-Prim Neo. The festival is intended for all the Bessarabians in Iasi, the young residents of Iasi, the people of culture, the intellectuality, and the Iasi public in general, Olga Bondari said. The following films will be screened during the festival: “Valeu! Valeu! Nu turna!” by Gheorghe Urschi (1991), “Boredom (and inspiration)” (2007), “Sasa, Grisa and Ion” (2006) and “When the Lights Go Out” (2006) by Igor Cobileanski, and “Bingo” by Sergiu Voloc, who won the grand prize of the Alertnative Short Film Festival. “We prepared over 100 invitations as the hall has a seating capacity of 150,” Olga Bondari said. The spectators will enter using invitations obtained from the Association’s representatives free of charge. According to the Bessarabian Youth Association, next year the festival will last two-three days. “We have not yet chosen the films that will be shown. We hope that until then there will be made new and interesting films in Moldova.” The first Bessarabian Film Festival was held in April 2006. The festival will take place on Saturday, November 21, at the House of Culture “Mihai Ursachi”, starting at 18.00.
