I will do my utmost to maintain peace between banks of the Nistru, OSCE ambassador

Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the Transnistrian Settlement Process Ambassador Radojko Bogojević came to Moldova on his first visit. After a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration and Chief Negotiator Eugen Carpov, the OSCE ambassador said he will do his best to maintain peace between the banks of the Nistru River, IPN reports.

“During this mandate, over the next two years, I will do my utmost to make the negotiations in the 5+2 format viable. My mandate is to maintain peace and the political dialogue, to find a possibility of deciding a special status for the Transnistrian region,” stated the official.

Eugen Carpov said they agreed the priorities for the immediate future and discussed the issues proposed for discussion in the first round of negotiations this year, which will take place at the end of February.

On January 29, Radojko Bogojevic will travel to Tiraspol to meet with Transnistrian leader Yevgeny Shevchuk and Transnistrian Chief Negotiator Nina Shtanski. On January 30, the OSCE ambassador will meet with Speaker of Parliament Igor Corman as well as with civil society representatives. The same day, he will give a press briefing in concert with the Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova Ambassador Jennifer Brush.
