I undertook to persuade as many compatriots from diaspora to vote, Maia Sandu

The leader of the Party “Action and Solidarity” Maia Sandu said that by her decision to run on behalf of the bloc ACUM in constituency No. 50 Western Europe, she undertook to persuade as many citizens from the diaspora as possible to make effort and go and vote in a large number on February 24, 2019, IPN reports.

“There are many valuable people in each country on the European continent  who can represent the diaspora, but we thought it is better to now field a common candidate who was supported by over 138,000 people in 2016, whom we thank a lot for their support. We hope even more people will vote in the upcoming elections,” Maia Sandu wrote on a her Facebook page.

The politician noted the high voter turnout among the Moldovan citizens from the European diaspora will mean not only victory in the constituency, but also several more seats of MP that would be enough for the bloc ACUM to bring about the change.

The announcement that Maia Sandu runs in constituency No. 50 Western Europe generated reactions among representatives of the diaspora, who said the politician should have run in a national single-member constituency. They opined that Moldovans from the diaspora who know better the problems faced by these should have run in this constituency.
