Hunting of wild boars starts in Transnistria

The Transnistrian administration decided that the season for hunting wild boars will begin on June 1. According to local experts, the number of wild boars in the region is too high and these cause damage to farmers by destroying crops, IPN reports.

The local press reported that the hunting season will last by August 31. Until now the wild boars could be hunted in November-December, as on the right side of the Nistru River.

The farmers from the eastern districts have long complained about the fact that their crops are being destroyed, but the Transnistrian administration could not allow hunting as long as Ukraine faced cases of swine fever. The hunting of wild boars would have led to the migration of the animals from Transnistria to Ukraine and would have brought the disease on return.

Hunting will be allowed where cases of massive destruction of crops were reported.
