The hunger strike announced by the leader of the Party of Regions on June 6 in solidarity with the employees of Moldova’s Railways (CFM), who haven’t been paid salaries during over half a year, was stopped. Alexandr Kalinin said the salary arrears started to be cleared, IPN reports.
“We received a multitude of letters coming from the country and from outside it, from employees of CFM and from people who didn’t remain indifferent, asking that our team should stop the hunger strike. Things moved on. The salary for January began to be paid. We will keep the situation under control. I thank all those who supported us,” stated Alexandr Kalinin, noting for him it is very important that the people do not lack bare essentials.
Party of Regions vice president Alexandru Elița thanked for the assistance offered these days, which gave the team strength to succeed. They consider they achieved their goal as the problem of the employees was heard by a lot of people. Things moved on and they will keep a close eye so that the people get all the overdue pays.
