Hungary backs Romania’s idea to open another application centre

The creation of another Common Application Centre in Chisinau, by Romania, could be possible, as it is not Hungary’s exclusive right, Kinga Goncz, Foreign Minister of Hungary, told a press conference on Wednesday, April 25. According to official, Hungary holds the pioneer’s mission and must prove ability to work in this respect, making reference to the first common centre of this kind. At the same time, the Hungarian official also said that the presence of a large number of officials at the Centre’s opening ceremony is a message of support by EU to Moldova. The first European Common Visa Application Centre (CVAC) was inaugurated within the Embassy of Hungary in Chisinau, on Wednesday, April 25, in presence of Moldova’s leadership and European high officials. Initially, the Centre will issue visas for Hungary, Austria, Latvia and Slovenia.
