Hundreds queued up at Bucharest station to vote

Hundreds of Moldovan citizens queued up outside the Moldovan Embassy in Bucharest to vote in the early parliamentary elections on November 28. Most voters were young people who study in the Romanian capital or in nearby towns, Info-Prim Neo's correspondent reported. In spite of showers, people stood for hours in line to vote. Some young people brought guitars with them to the embassy to entertain the public as they waited in line. The favorite melodies were songs by Ion Aldea-Teodorovici on Grigore Vieru's lyrics. As they exited the polling station, the youths were saying they voted for democracy and freedom, while the senior voters were saying they voted for a brighter future and a decent living for their children and grandchildren. “We want to be in Europe, to be alongside other nations in the Occident, and we want to get rid of dictatorship”, said Vasile Ionas, student at the Ploiesti University. Marina Vlas, a student at the Bucharest Economics Academy, hopes her vote will help her return to Moldova after she completes her studies to contribute to Moldova's prosperity. “I voted for democracy, freedom and equal chances for all the youths”, said Marina. Valentina Matei, a pensioner, is visiting her relatives in Bucharest. She hopes her vote will help to bring them back into Moldova, where they would have a better living than that because of which they fled to Romania. “Now they say they don't want to come back to instability and poverty. I wish to think that my vote will be able to change the situation in the country for the better”. Over 8,000 people voted at the polling stations in Romania by 18:00.
