Humanist faction in Chisinau Council dissolves

The Humanist faction in the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) came to an end, as Democrat (PDM) Oazu Nantoi pulled out from it. “The recent events showed that I voted otherwise than my fellow faction colleagues, due to my views on the city;s problems. It is natural that this faction disappears since it did not vote unanimously,” Oazu Nantoi has told Info-Prim Neo. “After staying for a year in this hall all the humanist that was in me evaporated, only democracy remained. Further when you count the votes please announce me clearly: the Democratic Party,” the councilor asked in the CMC's sitting on Thursday. According to the CMC's regulation, a faction may consists of at least 3 councilors. The Humanist faction was made in December 2007 by Oazu Nantoi (PDM), Oleg Oniscenco (then the leader of Casa Noastra Chisinau NGO, elected on the lists of the Humanist Party (PUM) and by Serghei Cires (PUM). Oazu Nantoi was part of the Democratic faction initially jointly with councilors Alexandru Tanase, Galina Talai and Vladimir Cotet. In September 2007, those three left the PDM and, consequently, its faction in the CMC, to form the Liberal-Democratic faction.
