Human Rights Council created

The Government has formally incorporated the Human Rights Council. It will have a permanent secretariat to coordinate the drafting of the National Action Plan on Human Rights and other human rights policy documents. It will also monitor and evaluate the implementation of human rights policy based on information provided by public authorities and other interested parties, IPN reports.

The Council Secretariat will coordinate the work of the public authorities to prepare reports on the implementation of the international human rights treaties to which the Republic of Moldova is a party, as well as the process of national implementation of the recommendations formulated by the international human rights protection mechanisms.

A Human Rights Coordinator is also instituted to serve as the permanent secretariat’s liaison with each public authority, both central and local.

The Council will have local structures that will draw up local plans and programs on the implementation of national human rights policy documents.
