Human rights compliance in the Transnistrian Region – 2024 report

Systemic pressures and restrictions imposed on farmers in Dubăsari district, cases of illegal detentions, intimidation of journalists, denial of access to the region for cultural figures from the right bank of the Dniester, and the collection of illegal taxes from economic agents - these are among the key findings of the Promo-LEX Association's report, "Human Rights in the Transnistrian Region of the Republic of Moldova: 2024 Review", IPN reports.

The report also highlights that, over the past year, Transnistrian structures have strengthened their network of 53 illegal control posts and other barriers, maintaining a climate of control and pressure on the population.

According to Promo-LEX, the severe and systematic violation of the right to free movement in 2024 remains a direct consequence of the entrenched climate of impunity.

Additionally, during the reporting period, five journalists were illegally detained. They were accused of "espionage," forced to delete recorded materials, interrogated under degrading conditions, and threatened with violence.

The report also notes that localities under the control of constitutional authorities were patrolled by Transnistrian security forces. Vehicles were illegally stopped, and drivers were subjected to intimidation.
