The average old-age pension as a result of the 5.3% indexation planned for April 1 will rise by 91.85 lei for 526,000 beneficiaries, while the disability pensions will grow by 72.07 lei for 125,000 recipients, IPN reports.
The successor’s pensions will increase by 47.25 lei for 12,000 recipients. The average pension of the participants in the Chernobyl cleanup will be 173.79 lei. Such pensions are paid to 1,749 persons. The indexation percentage was calculated depending on the average annual rise in consumer prices for the last three years.
As from April 1, 2019, the minimum old-age pension will be 1,079.33 lei.
The provisions are contained in a bill that was approved by the Cabinet on March 15. Asked by journalists why this bill was needed after the Government assumed responsibility for the indexation of pensions last week, Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Silvia Radu explained responsibility for the indexation was assumed in order to have access to state budget funds to cover the related costs, while the Government decision that was approved now increases the pensions.
