How MP seats could be distributed in the event of early parliamentary election

In the event of early parliamentary elections conducted on party lists, the Party of Socialists would win with 48 seats. The Party of Action and Solidarity would get 34 MPs, and the Dignity and Truth Platform Political Party would get 10. The Democratic Party would get nine seats. The data are contained in the Electoral Barometer - July 2019, presented on Wednesday by the company Date Inteligente SRL (iData) in a press conference at IPN.

The executive director of the company, Mihai Bologan, said that the interviewees were asked how much they support the PSRM-ACUM coalition. Most - 34.4% - answered "No less, no more". 15.2% said they support it a lot, 14% said they did not, and 11.6% - little. 7.4% of the respondents said they support this coalition very much.

"Given that the parties which are part of the coalition are very different, it is expected that part of the electorate will support, some will not. Another part is indifferent. This is what our survey data looks like”, noted Mihai Bologan.

66.9% of the respondents believe that the Republic of Moldova is a captured state, compared with 73.6% in May 2019. According to the iData director, the situation is compared to the period when Parliament was not yet operational, but neither the political crisis in June started.

As for the confidence of citizens in politicians, the top three are the leaders of the ruling alliance: Igor Dodon (32.3%), Maia Sandu (17.5%), Andrei Nastase (4.3%). The list continues with Zinaida Greceanîi (3.9%) and Pavel Filip (3.5%). Compared to the June ranking, the top six does not include anymore the PDM leader Vlad Plahotniuc and Ilan Shor.

Respondents mentioned among the main problems small pensions, low incomes and poverty. Also, bad roads, lack of jobs, corruption, emigration, etc.

The barometer shows that 36.6% of the respondents consider that the main development vector of the Republic of Moldova must be Pro-European Union, 30% think it must be Pro-Moldova, and 15.6% think it must be Pro-Russia. Over 9% of the respondents were for unification with Romania.

The survey was conducted on July 17-28 on a sample of 1825 people from 92 localities of the country, by telephone and face to face. The maximum sampling error is 2.29%.
