Housing Division ensures cleaning of yards, sidewalks and stations manually and with equipment

The General Housing and Amenities Division of Chisinau has intervened with equipment and workers since Sunday to clear of snow and ice the sidewalks and yards of apartment buildings, public transport stations and access roads to underground passages in the capital city. Over 100 tonnes of salt were spread in total, IPN reports.

According to the Division, 54 units of equipment were engaged in snow removal works on Sunday morning. As the snowfalls intensified, the number of units was increased. Over 50 employees of municipal housing enterprises worked to clean the yards of apartment building and sidewalks.

The snow removal works continued during the night, both manually and in a mechanized way, involving over 400 workers and about 50 pieces of equipment outfitted with snow plows and salt spreaders.

“The access ways to social institutions, hospitals and educational institutions were cleaned the first. Works have also been executed on sidewalks, in yards of apartment buildings, on access roads to underground passages, in public transport stations and on municipal waste collection platforms. Pedestrians can move safely along public sidewalks,” the Division noted in a press release.
