Hotline for victims of torture launched
From July 1, the people can report cases of violation of human rights, especially cases of torture, cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment on the free hotline of the Center for Human Rights, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
Experts in jurisprudence will record cases of torture and violation of human rights on the phone number 0 – 8001 – 2222 from 8.00 to 20.00. They will provide legal advice to all the victims.
Later, the National Mechanism for the Prevention of Torture will take the necessary redressing measures and register people’s complaints and inform the relevant bodies about cases of torture.
The hotline is part of the activities of the Prevention of Torture Project financed by the European Union and co-financed and implemented by UNDP. Its aim is to inform, document and prevent the cases of torture, contributing thus to a more efficient protection of the human rights.
