Hospitals face shortage of drugs

The hospitals in Moldova are facing a shortage of drugs owing to the Ministry of Finance’s debts of over half a billion of lei to the National Health Insurance Company, the head of the parliamentary commission on health Oxana Domenti said, quoted by TV7 channel, to which IPN makes reference.

The representatives of the medical institutions avoid to openly speak about this problem, saying they cope with the available stores. “There were no problems when we were financed regularly. If money does not come, everyone will be affected. Now we have drugs for two more months,” the director of the Telenesti district hospital Alexei Bivol stated for TV7.

The Oncological Institute is also facing related problems. “One of the meetings held at the Ministry of Health centered on the situation at the National Hospital, the Mother and Child Institute, the Emergency Medicine Institute and the Institute of Cardiology,” said the head of the Chisinau City Hall’s Health Division Mihai Moldovanu.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Health, the hospitals have supplies of drugs for four months, but some of the essential preparations are absent.
