A Horticultural Office will be created in the Republic of Moldova as a public institution through which the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry will implement state policies in this sector. Relevant provisions can be found in a new bill on horticulture that was given a first reading by Parliament, IPN reports.
Under the draft law, the office will be responsible for drafting public policies for the development of horticulture, but also for promoting horticultural products on the domestic and export markets.
It will also assess and monitor the production potential, including the setting up and deforestation of horticultural plantations, attract and implement projects and programs to promote horticultural products, financed with the support of the development partners, keep the Horticultural Register, etc.
The horticultural field includes the walnut, fruit shrub and strawberry, vegetable, mushroom, aromatic, medicinal and spice plant subsectors.
