Thirty-two historical pictures that represent sequences with the execution of Jews in World War II were presented at the National Museum of History and Archeology of Chisinau at an exhibition staged by the United States Embassy in Moldova, IPN reports.
In the inauguration of the exhibit, U.S. Ambassador William H. Moser said that more than 9 million Jews and other minorities lost their lives in the Holocaust. “About 270,000 Jews from Bucovina, Bessarabia and Transnistria died of hunger, disease and killed by the Nazis and their allies in Romania and Ukraine. Last year, I was extremely moved when I visited the common grave in Dubasari, along the Nistru River, where there are buried 19,000 victims,” he stated.
During the event, there was performed the work for violin “Different Trains”, written by U.S. composer Steve Reich. It is about the tragedy of the victims transported by train to death.
Access to the event is free. The exhibit is open to the public until February 14, between 10am and 5pm.
