The public association “HOMECARE” has inaugurated the “HOMECARE” House with financial support provided by the Government of the Czech Republic through the agency of the Czech Development Agency. The new building houses the Care Center “ESTERA” and the association’s administrative team. The goal of such actions is to improve the quality of life of older pensions and persons with disabilities of the municipality of Chisinau by providing care services ensured by the multidisciplinary team “HOMECARE”, IPN reports.
“HOMECARE” Association director Tamara Adașan said that these wonderful conditions were created through the agency of the Czech Development Cooperation program in the framework of the “Support and Assistance to the Social Sector of Moldova” project that is implemented by Caritas Czech Republic in partnership with AO Pro Development and the Association “HOMECARE”. This was also possible owing to the contribution of the Swiss Red Cross.
The “ESTERA” Center during a year serves about 300 people. This is long-term assistance aimed at improving the services for elderly people. Mobile multidisciplinary teams travel to the homes of beneficiaries. If there are no conditions for offering medical-social services to them, the beneficiaries are brought to the center.
The Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Moldova Zděnek Krejčí said the inauguration of the new office of the Care Center is one more nice occasion for presenting an important accomplishment of the Czech Republic in the Republic of Moldova. “The Czech Republic for a long period of time has supported the social infrastructure development sector within the social assistance provided to the Republic of Moldova. One of our priorities in this sector is to develop homecare services. The Czech Republic, through the agency of the Czech Development Agency, finances projects to improve the quality and availability of social services. With the assistance of the Czech Republic, ten homecare centers were founded in Chisinau and in Moldova’s regions,” stated Zděnek Krejčí.
Attending the event, Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu said that this is long-lasting cooperation that supports a lot of social and healthcare projects. The Association “HOMECARE” developed many social and health services, trained specialists in the medical and social fields, contributed to strengthening the normative framework and to raising standards, especially for care services.
Thanks to the Czech support ten medical-social homecare centers have been set up in Chisinau, Cahul, Doroțcaia, Ștefan Vodă, Ceadâr-Lunga, Vulcănești, Bălți, Horești village of Fălești district, Țaul village of Edineț district and Ocnița.
The Czech Republic annually supports development projects to the value of over €3 million in Moldova. This year, the development assistance was supplemented with humanitarian aid within the COVID-19 response under which two humanitarian projects worth a total of €500,000 were implemented.
