An employee of the Ministry of Home Affairs mortally hit by his car a pedestrian who was crossing the street legally in Vadul lui Vodă town, IPN reports.

The Ministry said the 59-year-old man works for the Information Technology Service of the institution. Being outside the working hours, he struck fatally a man aged 54.

The test with a Dräger device showed the driver wasn’t inebriated.

The accident is investigated by the responsible bodies. An internal inquiry was launched to determine the circumstances.

The driver faces a maximum jail term of seven years.
