Homage paid to Bolshevik revolution

President Vladimir Voronin accompanied by members of the Communist Party of Moldova (PCRM) laid flowers to the monument to Russian revolutionary leader Vladimir Lenin in Chisinau on November 7 in the morning. Those attending took part in a meeting dedicated to the 91st anniversary of the Socialist Revolution of Russia. The head of state started his speech in the language he names Moldovan “so as not to anger the journalists” and then continued in Russian. Vladimir Voronin eulogistically spoke about the contribution of Marxism-Leninism and the socialist principles promoted by Lenin. He said that these theories and principles laid at the basis of the successful activity of PCRM during the eight years of government. The noble mission of the Communist Party is to develop Moldova as a sovereign and independent state. PCRM will make everything possible for the country to develop normally and keep pace with the most develop states in Europe, Vladimir Voronin said. He stressed that the year 2001, when PCRM came to power, was like the revolutionary year 1917, when the country was in a deplorable situation and there was no one to govern. Those that ruled Moldova during 10 years after the proclamation of independence turned out to be helpless in fulfilling the government tasks, the President said. Vladimir Voronin also spoke about the world financial crisis, specifying that all those affected by the crisis did not read Lenin and Marx. “We also should think what literature and instruments we need in order to strengthen the Moldovan state,” the head of state added. The PCRM leader expressed his skepticism about the capability of the Democratic parries to properly rule the country. He said that “they cannot button the last buttons of their shirts.” The new members of the party received “red cards” and congratulations. The October Revolution started in Petrograd (Saint Petersburg) on October 25, 1917 as per the Julian calendar (7 November 1917 according to the Gregorian calendar). It overthrew the Russian Provisional Government and gave the power to the Bolsheviks headed by Vladimir Lenin. The revolution was followed by the Russian Civil War (1917–1922) and the creation of the Soviet Union in 1922.
