Holy Fire to be brought from Jerusalem

A delegation of the Orthodox Church of Moldova will leave for Jerusalem on April 18 to bring the Holy Fire, with the consent of the Metropolitan Bishop of Chisinau and All Moldova, His Holiness Vladimir, Info-Prim Neo reports. At a news conference on Tuesday, His Holiness Vladimir said that this year the delegation will be small, composed of four persons only. It will be headed by the Bishop Petru of Hancu. The delegation will also include the abbot of the monastery in Tiganesti town dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin father superior Irinarh, and a district head and a mayor that the Metropolitan Bishop Vladimir said he did not know. “We are glad that the Holy Fire will come to Moldova from the Holy Country for the seventh time and will be distributed to all our parishes so as to gladden all the Christians,” the Metropolitan Bishop said. “The conveyance of the Holy Fire is a very important event for every Christian because only once a year, on Holy Saturday, the fire descends from heaven in sight of all those that expect it. This shows once again that our faith is real, that God loves us and every year sends his blessing to those that are in the church in Jerusalem and, through their agency, to the people that live on this land blessed by God.” The Holy Fire will be expected by the administration of the Church in the square of the Metropolitan Cathedral from 21.00. From there, it will be sent to all the parishes of the country.
